Student activists celebrate milestone towards the first Student Housing Co-operative in Belfast

The Belfast Student Housing Co-op’ s crucial meeting at the Ormeau Bath on  25 May. The members agreed to incorporate of the first Students Housing Co-operative in Northern Ireland.

The initiative is led by students and officers of Ulster University and Queen’s University Student’s Unions and supported by Co-operative Alternatives and Student Co-op Homes. Click here for more information Student Co-op Homes (studenthomes.coop)

Tiziana O’Hara said “This group has worked consistently since the beginning of the year to develop a co-operative solution to the accommodation issues faced by students in Northern Ireland. We were able to help them thanks to the Belfast City Council Economy Departmentwe  programme of support for co-ops and look forward to continuing to assist their development’.
