Co-op Day Celebration: 4th July 2026!
On Co‑op Day, 4 July, the global movement comes together under this year’s theme ‘Co‑operatives for a Peaceful World’ to highlight the role democratic, people‑centred enterprises play in building more just, inclusive and resilient communities. At a time when many societies are facing division and insecurity, co‑ops continue to act as bridge‑builders: strengthening local economies, widening participation, reducing inequality and fostering the trust that underpins lasting peace. It is a moment to celebrate the work already happening across our island, and to recognise how co‑operative approaches rooted in shared ownership and collective action help create the conditions for communities to thrive.
And the best way to mark Co‑op Day is simply to show up for the co‑ops already strengthening our communities. Pick up a beer from Lacada or Boundary, do your weekly shop at Carrick Greengrocer, or spark a meaningful conversation with the Dialogue Facilitators Co‑op. If you’re after creative inspiration, drop in with Rabble Co‑op or the Creative Workers Co‑op. Fancy something a bit different? Arrange a visit to a turbine with the Wind Energy Co‑op, or have a chat with the team at Belfast Cleaning Co‑op about how democratic workplaces can reshape everyday services. However you choose to take part, every small action helps grow a fairer, more co‑operative economy.
